Yeah, that's right, I'm rec-begging this time...because there's a graph at the end which took a ton of time to put together, and I'd hate to see it go down the memory hole.
First, a quiet, normal update out of Massachusetts...
—Massachusetts: QHPs break 90K (estimate); Medicaid above 175K
And then the craziness began:
—6.75M QHPs thru Jan. 9th via HC.gov...with STATE-LEVEL BREAKDOWN!
—At least 18 States have reached HHS Goal for 2015 with over 5 weeks to go
—So, what's still missing?
—New York: And you thought I was frustrated with California yesterday...
Yup, NY decided to out-obfuscate California: No renewal data until February and it doesn't even sound like they'll give out new enrollments until then (which CoveredCA at least did).
—Reality Check: With NO surge at all, QHP total would reach 10.17 million by 2/15
And finally, this took a lot of time and effort, but I'm rather proud of it:
—Feast Your Eyes: 2015 QHP Status of All 50 States (+DC), Graphed!!
NOTE: I've embedded both the table and bar graph below, but I strongly recommend clicking the link above and reading the full entry as well, as there's some important context & notes there.
Besides, I'm pretty sure the bar graph version here at dKos will be too small to read properly even in lightbox mode...
UPDATE: If you click on the graph below, you'll see the full-sized version via a pop-up overlay. It also explains at the top what the bars symbolize, but to clarify:
--The blue lines show what % of the official 2015 enrollment projection each state has reached so far.
Official HHS target (national): 10.4 million total / 9.1 million paid
--The green lines show what % of MY 2015 enrollment projection each state has reached so far.
MY target (national): 12.5 million total / 11.0 million paid
Basically, I think HHS is lowballing their projection this year.
I hope this helps.
(I just swapped out the graphic with a revised version that includes the Blue/Green key right on the chart itself)
